2005 휴고 어워드 후보 명단 발표

이번 67회 SF 월드콘은 영국의 글래스고우에서 열리나 보네요. 휴고상 최종 발표는 8월 8일 이 월드콘 행사 중 하나로 발표될 예정으로 일단은 후보 명단이 발표되었습니다. 코리 아저씨는 'British Invasion'이라고 호들갑을 떨었다지요. 휴고는 기본적으로 팬투표기 때문에 월드콘에 '누가'오느냐가 상당히 중요합니다. 영국에서 하면 영국사람들이 많이 올테니 적어도 메인 몇 개는 영국 소설가에게 돌아갈 확률이 높지 않을까 짐작해봅니다.

2005 휴고 어워드 후보 명단 발표한지도 어언 5개월이 지났지요. 현재 영국 글래스고우에서는 SF WorldCon이 진행중입니다. 휴고상은 이 컨벤션의 마지막 날 8월 8일에 발표될 예정이구요. BBC에 따르면 휴고상 67년 역사상 Novel 부분에 오른 후보작 전부가 '영국' 작품이었던 건 이번이 처음이랍니다. WorldCon이 저번 주말에 막을 내렸죠. 그 마지막날 2005년 Hugo 수상자/수상작 발표가 있었습니다. Best Novella, Novelette, Short Story를 모두 웹에서 읽을 수 있다는 데 주목해 주세요. 휴고상은 회원 투표제라는 점도 고려해 주시구요. 점차 인터넷 SF진이 예전의 펄프 SF를 대체해가고 있다는 좋은 예가 아닐까 싶습니다. 그런 의미에서 시대의 흐름을 읽어 자기 소설을 Creative Commons 라이센스로 공개했던 Charles Stross와 Kelly Link가 각각 Novell......more

동감입니다. 전에 SF Site 편집자/독자 추천 1위작이기도 하고. 조금 다른 이야기입니다만 Best Dramatic Presentation쪽은 정말 모르겠더군요.
